JANE'S ADDICTION: 'The Great Escape Artist' Available For Streaming On iTunes

"The Great Escape Artist" (Capitol) the first studio album by JANE'S ADDICTION in eight years will have its world premiere exclusively on the iTunes Store starting today, Tuesday, October 11, streamed free in its entirety for one week leading up its October 18 in-store release date. The effort was mastered specifically for iTunes to optimize sound quality when downloaded.

"The Great Escape Artist" the band's fourth studio album features the transfixing "Irresistible Force", a Top Ten hit on the alternative rock chart. The album was produced by Rich Costey (MUSE, FRANZ FERDINAND, INTERPOL),with TV ON THE RADIO's Dave Sitek on the creative team. Sitek, best known for his production work for TV ON THE RADIO, YEAH YEAH YEAHS and THE FOALS, is writing, programming, and playing bass on the album. On the touring front, the pioneering alt-rock band frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass recently sold out two shows in both Chicago (September 24 and 25, Metro) and Los Angeles (October 3 and 4, John Anson Ford Theatre) which were rapturously received by the band's fans. Next, they head into New York City for two sold-out shows Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18 at Irving Plaza as part of their third and final pair of small venue shows with Citi to mark the release of "The Great Escape Artist". In 2012, JANE'S ADDICTION will embark on a world tour.

The writing process for "The Great Escape Artist" began in 2010 and by early 2011 the band entered a Los Angeles studio with producer Rich Costey. Their intent was to travel a different road, and consequentially they paved an entirely new path for alternative music at large. Costey introduced Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins to TV ON THE RADIO's Dave Sitek with the hopes of getting him involved somehow. After a couple of lab sessions, the chemistry was obvious. Sitek stepped into the role of a songwriter and a bass player for the album with Navarro, and touring bassist Chris Chaney, also sharing four-string duties.

Sitek helped the band evolve their alchemy, expanding the sound even more. Farrell described Sitek's distillation of electronic textures, bombastic rock, and crazed punk to Rolling Stone magazine declaring, "He's like a scientist, and he's not afraid of making a monster."
